Naveed Ali

I am an experienced Art and Design educator with over 16 years of teaching across international settings, alongside a professional background in the design industry. I specialize in Studio Arts at the senior secondary level, where I encourage students to develop independence, originality, and a strong personal artistic voice.

My teaching approach is centred on fostering creativity through exploration and risk-taking. Students are guided to move beyond imitation, experiment with materials and techniques, and innovate their own style. With an emphasis on critical thinking, students regularly curate their work, build portfolios, critiques each other’s ‘work, and participate in meaningful discussions about art.

Students showcase their progress through exhibitions, reinforcing both presentation skills and reflective practice. I believe that art education should prepare students not only as creators, but as thoughtful, self-aware individuals.

With a foundation in both art and design, I advocate for an interdisciplinary approach. I encourage students to see the natural connection between creative fields, understanding that an artist can be a designer, and a designer can be an artist. Inspired by figures such as Leonardo da Vinci, I promote the idea that creativity thrives when disciplines intersect, including the integration of art with science and technology.

My goal is to develop confident, independent learners who are willing to take creative risks, think critically, and lead rather than follow.
